Take action to optimize power use

Through a better understanding of how it's consumed

How it Works

Sentilla Energy Manager is a complete enterprise management solution to monitor, track, correlate, and understand energy usage and capacity.  It achieves three primary tasks: data collection with the aid of Sentilla's Inference Engine, sophisticated interactive and offline analysis through the Sentilla Analysis Engine, and concise presentation of key energy activities with web dashboards and reporting.

Energy data is centralized by Sentilla Energy Manager, providing a complete view of where and when power is used, from the switchgear down to each individual piece of equipment.  Sentilla is the first and only solution that accounts for the energy consumption of every piece of equipment, metered or unmetered.  Physical metered readings are recorded and associated with their position in the data center power tree.  Data is captured using a variety of protocols (such as SNMP and Modbus), integration with Building Management Systems (BMSs), and from baseband controllers on newer servers (such as HP ILO).  With the Sentilla Inference Engine, virtual meters calculate the power consumption of unmetered assets, and power tree balancing ensures that energy is accounted for at every point in the data center.

With full power coverage of the data center, the Sentilla Analysis Engine turns billions of energy, environmental, and utilization data points into manageable content.  It delivers actionable intelligence about the data center's energy consumption through real-time and historical analysis. The Sentilla Analysis Engine alerts on key conditions, tracks efficiency and performance metrics, uncovers outliers and equipment operating out of normal range, and provides reporting tools to constantly review and improve data center operations.

PRODUCT FEATURES:

Central Energy Database

Sentilla Energy Manager acquires energy and environmental data from third party infrastructure (via SNMP, Modbus, and other industry protocols), calculates energy consumption of unmetered assets using Sentilla's equipment models, and balances the data center power tree, thus providing a full view of data center energy usage.

Recommendations

Recommendations suggest improvements for IT managers, showing how to lower cost, free up capacity and improve performance. Sentilla Energy Manager highlights asset profiles and trends. It performs statistical analyses to bring attention to idle equipment, outliers and abnormalities.

Real-Time and Historical Data

Sentilla's web dashboard and web services allow you to review real-time and historical data for quick management. With Sentilla Energy Manager, you can now track energy costs and carbon output by resource.

Customizable Reports

Reports break down data center cost and performance by user-defined property such as asset type, owner or application for better management. Reports can be generated to apply charge backs, document progress toward energy efficiency, track carbon reduction programs, etc. Sentilla's reports track key performance indicators, such as PUE, and analyzes trends in energy performance.

IT Integration

Through integration with existing IT databases, such as configuration and asset management, energy consumption can be put into context. Identify equipment that is not operating within normal bounds and examine application performance in the context of energy.

Alerts

Sentilla Energy Manager watches over all energy aspects of a data center and issues alerts in the case of critical levels, prolonged idling, low electrical capacity or unfavorable budgetary conditions. These alerts are delivered to the appropriate operator via SNMP traps, email and web dashboard.
